What we do
With 180 teams and projects in the UK, the NSPCC is committed to preventing abuse, protecting children and helping those who have experienced abuse to recover.
The first and hardest step for an abused child to take is to speak out. ChildLine is a free and confidential helpline for children and young people. Our volunteers are available 24 hours a day to listen and offer advice to children talking about their worries, including the abuse they suffer.

The NSPCC Helpline is open to anyone who is concerned about a child at risk of abuse. The service is provided by staff trained in child protection. As many as 28 per cent of the calls answered lead to the involvement of the police and Children's Services. It is a vital service especially for children who are too young to speak for themselves or those with disabilities who are more likely to suffer abuse.
